Hsiao-Ron Cheng is an illustrator and digital artist born in 1986 in Taiwan. She has always had a love for drawing and started taking art classes at around 6 years old. The magical fantasy adventure stories with many great illustrations have inspired her to imagine her own world. Cheng has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2012. She creates entirely new worlds with a whimsical and surreal touch. Trees have always fascinated the artist. “Their temperament seems to me to be calm and gentle. They breathe in worst and best yet never change who they are and always stand still,” she says. The stories or movies with sad tragic endings are attractive to Hsiao-Ron. So there is always a feeling of loneliness and melancholia in many of her digital paintings.
