Peony Yip – Beauty in Simplicity
Peony Yip, also known as the White Deer, is a freelance artist currently based out of Fanling, Hong Kong. She is still in the early stage of her career, but has already grabbed the attention of art critics. Peony is strongly inspired by nature and animals, trying to incorporate them into most of her artworks. Her minimalist pencil drawings overlaid with nature, insects or animals are fresh and full of energy. The works obviously captivate delicate color, technique and simplicity. The portraits have a strong connection with the rich history of satire, through which Peony explores the human mind within the hierarchies of natural composition. The artist describes her work in one sentence – it is “an attempt to do something a little different while keeping it simple and minimal.”
