David Patchen – Glass Art
David Patchen is an American glass artist born and raised in New York, now he resides in San Francisco. David’s work is known for its intense colours, intricate detail and meticulous craftsmanship, is in numerous private collections and exhibited in select galleries in the U.S., Canada and Europe. David was inspired by many forms of art including music and photography. He was a musician for 20 years and still finds music an inspiration while hand blowing his beautiful glass art works. Since 1996 he has lived in Northern California. His focus now is primarily on creating sophisticated works in glass but also still dabbles with photography. The design for any piece begins by considering the form and style of work, choosing the colours, determining their relationship to each other, the pattern and the placement of colours within the pattern. This is all thought out long before any cane or murine are made. “No matter how often I work with glass, the experience inspires me to push the limits of the material and my skill in working with it”, says David Patchen.
