Alexandra Levasseur – Inner Transformations
Alexandra Levasseur is a Montreal-based artist and illustrator creating truly magnetic, whimsical and touching illustrations. She is looking for relations between the comfort of the body and the quietness of the spirit and how the surrounding environment can affect states of mind. Alexandra often draws women as the symbol for the expression of universal emotions such as love, fear, desire, anguish and the changing spectrum of them. She observes an inner transformation of her subjects while changing their surroundings and climatic conditions. When the fall comes, the body is looking for physical comfort. The feminine figures find themselves surrounded with wool clothes, blankets and pillows. In the winter days, the bathtub hot water remains the best way to console the skin and bones from this unkind climate. While spring and summer are very colorful, floral and light for them. The result is captivating and thought-provoking. Through the representation of memories, the artist explores both, the loneliness and the bipolarity of the human state of existence.
