Sarah Applebaum’s Psych-Installations

Sarah Applebaum - a colourful wall

Sarah Moli Newton Applebaum is a self-taught artist living and working in San Francisco, California. She creates amazing knitted and crocheted installations. She gathered inspiration from shelves and racks full of junk and turned them into exciting creations. In her world of imagination, amorphous blobs dangle from the ceilings and geometric growths rise up from the floors. She is trying to merge two worlds: psychedelic space and psychological one, bringing freedom and experimental attitude to the art making process. Applebaum’s new-psych work has played a key part in reviving installation and soft sculpture through her use of textiles in contemporary art.
