These liquid landscapes are created by Australian artist Martine Emdur. There is something therapeutic about her paintings. Self-taught Martine has been Sydney’s one of the most prevalent and successful painters. Looking at her large-scale paintings it feels like you are immersed in the tranquil water. She finds models to strip off and join her in the waters. She allows them to simply float or swim, capturing them photographically and then renders on canvas dance of promise as the water sways over the flesh. Beneath water, floating naked and weightless – it is a pure beauty and freedom shown to mankind. The paintings reflect the joys, melancholies and fears of that most precious substance: water.
