Nicole Duennebier – Inexplicably Overwhelming
Nicole Duennebier was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1983. She received her Bachelor in Fine Arts at Maine College of Art with a major in painting. She has found an incredible connection between darkness and intricacy of undersea regions and the aesthetic of 16th century Dutch still-life painting. With a very detailed and opulent style, Nicole depicts the growing mass to create the “inexplicably overwhelming.” The complicated form of the mass operates in the dark, growing beyond its recognizable origin to become grotesque. This mass reveals inward complications of microscopic organisms that serve to keep the whole body alive. Her intricate paintings from nature have a dark vibe to them; while some details are delicate and beautiful they are the mark of decay and cannot be treasured.
