Carolina Fontoura Alzaga is an emerging multidisciplinary artist residing in LA. Since childhood she has been drawn to finding beauty and value in overlooked narratives and weathered textures. Carolina makes truly remarkable chandeliers – most people usually confuse them with regular chandeliers but have a moment of surprise once they get closer. These luxurious pieces are made with parts of recycled bicycles. The artist explores the third function of materials – after their original function, after they become trash – to create something far more powerful and impressive. Carolina’s art exposes the beauty in the discarded and challenges the necessity of the new.
